Informative Animal Research Reports!

Hi Friends!

Phew! I feel like I've hit the ground running without a single stop since we came back from Winter Break! Two weeks ago, my oldest little baby (cause we will ALWAYS be my baby!) turned a whopping FIVE years old so instead of doing the whole birthday party thing we planned a special trip to Lego Land in California for him! We had TONS of fun celebrating his special day and it's still hard to believe that I have a FIVE YEAR OLD!
::Funny side note, Cindy's oldest son ALSO turned five years old last week! Our boys are only 6 days apart AND they are both really good friends and even go to the same pre-school! While we're both a little sad our boys are growing up so fast, we're also both super excited to have our kiddos at school with us next year as they start kindergarten!

Anyways, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I wanted to share my new animal research organizers I vamped up! If you've bought our Animal Research organizers from our store recently, head on back over there to re-download the new and improved file! This busy first grade teacher was going through my stuff trying to find some animal research organizers when I remembered the file I made last year for this very unit! Last year I taught second grade and I wanted to change them around a bit for my busy little first graders so I whipped up some new "Research Notebooks" for animal research and added in some choices for cover pages, final draft pages, a Sources page and a Table of Contents page.

The first week we taught animal research we did it as a whole group and all studied the same animal. My kiddos became experts at the entire process in no time so we gave them a chance to choose their own animal to research and it's been all the buzz in my classroom these past 2 days! I cannot even tell you how many times I heard: "Mrs. Brown, I didn't know _______ lived in _______!" these past 2 days! It gives me those warm fuzzies to hear my kiddos so engaged in their own learning!

Here are some glimpses into the goodies:

If you're interested in this unit, check it out here!

I know Cindy has a FUN new unit coming up, so stay tuned to our blog and TPT store to check it out! You won't want to miss it! :-)

Martin Luther King, Jr. Connections & January Journals!

Hey Everyone -

It has been SO hard to get any creativity flowing this Winter Break! I've enjoyed every.single.second of being home with my two little loves! Nonetheless, it's time to start getting my mind back into school mode (I even set an alarm clock for the first time this morning just to make sure I still remember how to respond to it) !

I revised a unit I made last year for Martin Luther King, Jr. It's a fun little journal that allows your kiddos to make connections to MLK and his life.
You can snag your copy of this unit here. If you already purchased this unit from us, go back and re-download the new version of it!

While you're at our TPT store, check out our new January Journal Writing Prompts!

Well, that's all from me for now! Time to go make the most of the last few days we have left! :-)

xoxo,
Angie
